Job Description

Macmillan Davies are delighted to be the retained partner for a rapid growth business operating in the smart energy sector as they commence their search for a Head of Employee Experience to join the People team based in the North-West of England.The CompanyIt is a very exciting time to join this newly formed Group. Brought about by acquisition of 3 established businesses, there are no plans whatsoever to stand still. Currently employing over 1,600 people across the UK, the organisation prides itself on buildingfor the future by accelerating the development of a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable utilities sector.The business appointed its first Chief People Officer this year. Now, with a robust people strategy in place, the newly created Head of Employee Experience (EX) will strengthen the people function by taking responsibility for Employee Experience.About the RoleThis newly created senior role in the business will form a part of the HR Leadership team and will give the incumbent accountability for a range of areas across the business and people team.Looking after Employee Experience, HR Programme, Wellbeing, ED&I, Engagement and People Analytics.The Head of EX is a broad role. It will be responsible for setting the Employee Experience approach; designing and delivering practical and sustainable solutions to embed EX in the companys culture. Operationalising of people strategy projects. Using peopleanalytics and employee insight to shape projects, decisions and monitor how the business are tracking against people and cultural ambitions. The specialisms in Diversity & Inclusion and Wellbeing will also come under the position.Working with the Chief People Officer to contribute to the formulation of the People Strategy, the Head of EXs remit will involve the following:

  • Influencing leaders that EX is a necessary investment for the success of the organisation and obtain their buy in and ownership for this cultural change
  • Set employee experience approach and drive initiatives to embed sustainable employee experience into the business, creating a culture where everyone is responsible for employee experience
  • Accountable for the design of the EX colleague journey, defined moments that matter, employee net promoter score (eNPS) methodology and employee personas that will inform the People Strategy and guide project outcomes
  • Provide data driven feedback and proposals to improve colleague experience and assess the effectiveness of employee experience initiatives
  • Working with colleagues, own the company wide design and implementation of the diversity and inclusion agenda and wellbeing approach in support of strategic goals and positive impact on colleague experience
  • Accountable for the service delivery (via direct reports) across the organisation of subject matter experts in D&I, Wellbeing and People Analytics
  • People & Comms functional representation on enterprise-wide activities such as budgeting and risk management
  • Development and delivery of People Analytics arising from employee insight tools
  • Ownership of design, implementation and enhancements of employee engagement and EX measurement tools (e.g., surveys, EX/Employee Insight platforms) including how they enable and inform strategy
  • Establish strong links with the Internal Comms team to enable close alignment of the internal engagement activity with EX and people activities

To complement this, we require you to have the expertise already gained to allowyou to credibly influence this highly commercial business that EX is an essential to harmonise a growing, newly formed organisation in their cultural and commercial ambitions.Areas of your experience would touch upon:
  • Employee Experience expertise including knowledge of trends, methodologies, employee insight tools, eNPS methodology and practical implementation experience
  • Helping to create a clear vision for a people strategy, and finding a better way in how to support, develop, retain and encourage colleagues, ideally within a business with a large field-based workforce
  • Culture Change experience, evidenced by EX knowledge and experience of delivering EX initiatives that have resulted in increased business performance
  • Proven experience and track record in a HR role where you have had ownership, autonomy and accountability for some delivery through others in the people function
  • Experience of managing HR projects / initiatives / interventions, from conception to implementation, against scope, timescales, cost and quality
  • Proven track record of delivering against clear implementation plans and experience of implementing and running a programme management approach to enable delivery of a programme
  • Accountability for Diversity & Inclusion and Wellbeing approach design and delivery
  • Experience of establishing a people analytics approach and using the outputs to drive senior leader/management understanding of employee sentiment (to drive decision making)
