Job Description

Annual salary: up to £21,000.00 Groundworker Full Time – Permanent - £21,000 per annum - 42.5 hours per week. You will be working in Burnley, Preston, TamesideWho are weMears is one of the UK’s leading housing and care providers to both the public and private sector, with over 6,500 employees, working with clients to help develop, fund and implement their placemaking ambitions.With 30 years of delivering market-leading repairs and maintenance services, Mears is trusted to deliver in excess of 6,000 repairs daily to a portfolio of more than 1,000,000 homes nationwide.We provide tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnering arrangements with more than 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations and Housing Associations.What we are looking for:We are looking for an experienced Groundworker to join our rapidly expanding team to work within a busy repairs team. You will be working on individual ensuring our clients receive high levels of service and satisfaction. You will be responsible for carrying out the following:

  • Supporting with clearing the ground to be flagged.
  • Laying hard core, ash with cement and flags including cementing and mortaring.
  • Mix cement and mortar.
  • Work to line and levels, ensuring fall on flags.
  • Lay edgings and kerb stones using the same techniques as flags.
  • Cut flags using hand and machine tools.
  • Repair and replace flags as required.
  • Maintain and replenish vehicle imprest stock. Collection and delivery of materials.
  • Erect use and dismantle access equipment.
  • Be prepared to act as a mentor to trainees within the organisation and encourage a learning environment.
  • Obtain, where requested, Customer feedback on completion of works.
  • What you need to have:
  • Previous experience as a Groundworker or similar
  • Ideally previous domestic, social housing experience
  • Full driving licence
