Graduate Hydraulic Modellers - Altrincham - Manchester - £24K - £26K plus good bensOur client is seeking two Graduate Hydraulic Modellers located in Altrincham, Manchester.Graduates with either a First-Class Honours degree in either Civil Engineering, Environment Engineering, Mathematics or Geography, but would also be happy to consider other similar disciplines.Our client would also review graduates with a 2(i) with a Masters degree in either Flood Risk Management, Hydrology, Climate Science or Environmental Studies.Most of the project work undertaken by the company uses state-of-the-art computer programs and involves the computer modelling of drainage and river systems and in particular flooding in urban areas.This work relies heavily on complex data and accuracy is of paramount importance. In addition to the primary role above there will also be an involvement in other flooding and drainage work, including the preparation of Flood Risk Assessment reports to supportplanning applications and other project work associated with sewer flooding and the development of solutions to alleviate the flooding.The successful candidate will receive extensive training in the use of hydraulic modelling software and in other programs such as GIS programs, databases, spreadsheets etc.The training will be a mix of internal and external courses and on-the-job training.Opportunities will be given for the successful candidate to attend conferences and also to present papers at conferences.The duties of this role would be Hydraulic modelling using the Info Works suites of programs (ICM, CS, RS); inputting and manipulating data including Lidar data, Ordnance Survey mapping, asset data, GIS data and other information from a variety of sources;assist with the development of new techniques and skills; prepare plans, maps, reports and diagrams.You will have highly proficient computer skills, strong technical skills, good spatial awareness and the ability to think in 3D.
