Job Description

The successful candidate will have extensive relevant legal experience within or supporting a local authority or similar public body and possess political awareness with the ability to handle the sensitive relationships between members, officers, electedrepresentatives, and members of the public with tact and diplomacy.A key activity within this role, will see the appointed candidate partnering with relevant business areas across our client, providing specialist advice, identifying opportunities for improvement, designing/delivering new approaches to the legal and democraticsupport services, and being the key contact for all associated external specialists who deliver professional legal services to our client.The appointed candidate will have a good level of knowledge of all relevant aspects of the law and experience of its application to the extent necessary for the membership of a professional body, combined with practical knowledge/use of Records Managementsystems and Electronic Document and Records Management Systems, whilst also being familiar with BS-ISO 15489-1 and other relevant information management standards, principles, and practice.A proven demonstrable track record of building productive working relationships with elected Members, partner organisations, private sector providers, government, public agencies, interest groups and statutory authorities, is a pre-requisite to be successfulin this role, along with excellent communicating and influencing skills, with the ability to negotiate, collaborate and influence.Candidates must have extensive technical experience within a relevant area of specialism, track record of delivering services across the whole organisation, and a relevant legal qualification e.g. F.Inst.L.Ex, Solicitor or Barrister and a current practisingcertificate.Closing Date: 12pn on 19September 2022Interview Date:w/c 26September 2022In return, as well as a competitive salary, our other benefits include: 27 days holiday per annum (Pro-Rata for part time employees) Access to the local government pension scheme Access to various salary sacrifice benefits, including Travel Pass purchase scheme Access to our clients Flexi-Time Schemeallowing accrual of up to 18 additional days leave per year Hybrid working in an agile environment, to suit both personal and business needsIf you believe you have the skills and experience were looking for please apply online, ensuring that in your application you provide evidence in the form of specific examples of how you meet the essential criteria in the role profile.At our client, we welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation.
