Our capability is at the core of Home Office evolution. Our role is to enable transformation through improved businessefficiency.The DDaT function is at an exciting point of evolution. Since 2010, the delivery of technology services within the UK government has been radically transformed, relating to the relationship with large suppliers. Major changes were implemented to enable departmentsto take back control of the design, build and/or operate aspects of their key technology services wherever appropriate. In many cases, such changes enable optimised economics, greater leverage of niche suppliers with deep subject matter expertise, better understandingand management of technical risk and greater agility and responsiveness to evolving business needs.The Role of Service Analyst/ArchitectThis is a unique role for an individual with specialist knowledge of the architecture of services and how they are mapped. DDAT have a backlog of services that need to be managed, prioritised, and mapped to ensure they are working to the highest standard.Responsibilities

  • Producing service designs which ensure that support for the new service is comprehensive, efficient and reuses existing capability
  • Developing and documenting the proposed service design for the integration and implementation of solutions, working with and across other areas of DDaT and the business to ensure that the requirements are included in business cases, project plans, supplierprocurements and Service Design Packages
  • Exercising strong stakeholder management skills to drive completion of a service design, including brokering decisions and bridging technical and business disputes by weighing up risk, complexity impact and deliverability
  • Leading the evaluation of a new service once it has been integrated, identifying best practices and lessons learned to incorporate into future integration plans
  • Creating detailed plans for the integration of new services into existing architecture, considering the broader context, strategies, and operating model of the organisation
  • Defining and helping shape best practices and standards within Architecture and SADI teams, working closely with Heads of Role and the Chief Technology Office
Requirements
  • Understanding of the architecture of services
  • Experience with ServiceNow & Common Service Data Models (CSDM) or similar
  • Incident Management & Change Management
  • ITIL
  • Complex Class Diagrams
  • Logical Data Models (LDM)
  • ERDs
  • Detailed, methodical & patient
