Job Description

About usWe are looking for a new member to join the expanding BFG family. Bridgewater Finance Group are one of the UK’s most well-established financial solutions providers. Established 14 years ago, we provide ethical and customer focused financial management plans. Companies within the group are fully FCA authorised and licenced by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.About the roleDue to the growth of the business we have an opening for an experienced PHP Developer to join our IT team. We’re looking for an experienced, talented and ambitious developer to join the BFG Team. As an experienced PHP Developer, youll be responsible for the continued development of the existing platforms, including maintenance and updates to current functions, along with facilitating further system developments & integrations. This involves working closely with other developers, which you will be joining a team of passionate PHP developers, all with diverse interests, working in a relaxed but highly productive environment.Responsibilities

  • you’ll be responsible for the continued development of the platform, including maintenance and updates to current functions, along with facilitating further system integrations
  • Investigate, analyse, document and correct reported bugs
  • Integrating & maintaining XML, JSON & REST web services
  • Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
  • Work on multiple projects at any one time and balance priorities
  • Working in an agile development methodology
    • KEY SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
  • Solid understanding of OO PHP (7. *) with a focus on back end databases (MS SQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with MVC Framework (preferred LARAVEL, SIMFONY, YII)
  • External web service experience (XML, JSON, REST)
  • Excellent written & spoken communication
  • Front-end development with HTML5, SCSS, JavaScript (including frameworks like ReactJS, Bootstrap, jQuery, ExtJS)
  • Produce documentation when changes are made to external facing API endpoints
  • A solid background in source control (e.g., Git)
  • Understanding the fully synchronous behavior of PHP
  • Above all else youll produce reliable, effective CLEAN code
    • Beneficial but not essential:
  • Working experience with MS SQL Server
  • Experience in caching technologies
