Job Description

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Food Health & Safety Officer to undertake food safety inspections, re-visits, undertake enforcement action and respond to customer service requests for one of our local government clients based in Manchester. The Food Health & Safety Officer will complete inspection reports, establish and allocate food hygiene ratings and prepare schedules of work for food business operators. They will also investigate complaints relating to poor food hygiene practices and advise business on improvements and update customers.Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Must have experience of undertaking food hygiene inspections and responding to service requests.
  • Must have obtained an Environmental Health Board of Registration Certificate (EHRB) for food safety work but an Environmental Health Degree or alternative qualification and experience may be sufficient
  • Must be familiar with applying a Corporate Enforcement Policy and the Regulators Code, understand enforcement procedures including preparation of prosecution case files, Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) interview processes, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulations and giving evidence in court.
  • Food standards and health and safety experience is desirable.
  • Port health skills related to imported foods are also desirable but not essential.
