Job Description

Job Role: FIRE RISK ASSESSOR (Contract Basis)Applicant requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years continuous experience of on-site fire risk assessment (FRA) inspections and report writing.
  • Experience of undertaking Types 1 - 4 FRAs.
  • Broad range of property purpose group experience, for example residential, commercial, industrial etc.
  • Membership of (and post-nominals with) a professional fire safety body such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and/or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
  • At least one of the following: NEBOSH (Fire)/GIFireE/Dip CFPA or similar level.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) and vocational fire safety courses.
  • Membership with an approved fire risk assessor register preferred.
  • Additional experience with undertaking pre-occupation surveys/fire strategies preferred.
  • Driving licence.
  • DBS police check.
  • CSCS card preferred (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme).
  • SkillsYou will need to have:
  • Strong verbal communication skills that enable you to liaise clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong written standard of English grammar and communications skills for detailed report writing.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with good attention to detail to ensure that suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment reports are compiled.
  • Technical knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Codes of Practice (incl. BS 9999 and BS 9991), the Building Regulations (ADB Vol 1 & Vol 2), LACORS, NFCC Specialised Housing Guide, BB100, HTM 05-02 and other guides as necessary.
  • Commercial focus with an ability to understand a clients risks, needs and key performance drivers.
  • Good level of I.T. skills including the use of portal software.
  • An ability to prioritise your workload to meet agreed deadlines and to work independently, using your own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
