Job Description

Job IntroductionMain Responsibilities The second line of defence Financial Crime Compliance function is located at our Head Office in Manchester. The role of Financial Crime Risk and Delegated Nominated Officer reports directly to the Deputy MLRO and Nominated Officer. Delegated Nominated Officersare appointed by the Nominated Officer and sit within second line of defence. Financial Crime Risk and Delegated Nominated Officer must be achieving a high level of consistency and competency in their role and have extensive Financial Crime experience. TheNominated Officer has the right to assess, appoint or remove the delegation of their duties at any time. The role sits within the MLRO function and is part of the team that provides Financial Crime Risk and Oversight advice to the first line of defense including the branch network. Delegated Risk and Nominated Officers will assess, review and make decisions onbehalf of the Nominated Officer in relation to referrals regarding Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing, Tax Evasion and Sanctions. This includes decisions in relation to the submission of SARs to the NCA and any recommendations in respect of theBanks risk tolerance to Financial Crime. The role also requires providing guidance and response to the business in relation to policy queries and exceptions, so a sound understand of Financial Crime Policies, Instructions and Standards is essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the team to ensure the day to day activities and work flow are adequately prioritised to suit shifting demands
  • Work independently and handle cases that require extremely high levels of discretion.
  • Ability to work in a highly complex and confidential area and to meet tight deadlines
and SLAs, often under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of quality and competency
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support the Financial Crime Analysts and Officers in the assessment and investigation of financial crime alerts, referrals escalations and investigations
  • Strong understanding of Financial Crime Regulations and Guidance.
  • Ensure that all financial crime alerts and referrals are fully investigated, evidenced and documented in a clear and concise manner and reported to relevant stakeholders and authorities in a timely manner.
  • Record and update relevant data in order to produce accurate and timely MI and produce adhoc MI as requested
  • Liaise with and support the Business areas, other financial institutions and law enforcement agencies with financial crime related queries and issues

  • Extensive experience working in transactional banking in the UK for both Corporate and personal.
  • An analytical mind-set with attention to detail and a methodical approach, together with a reasonable working knowledge of Word, Excel, and reasonable computer skills generally
  • Understanding the operation of core bank systems including IBIS and SIRON
  • A proactive and pragmatic working style
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • An integral part of the job will be to interact proactively and confidently with branches, Regional Business Support Teams, Group contacts, senior management, external parties including Government Agencies, Law Enforcement
