Finance Manager - Customers & SuppliersLocation: Hybrid working / Didsbury, ManchesterSalary: £44,615 to £49,573 (pay award pending)Full Time: 35 hours per weekSouthway Housing Trust is a community-based housing organisation committed to providing high quality services to the people & neighbourhoods that we work in. Southway Housing Trust is a "not-for-profit" landlord, based in Didsbury, managing and improvingapproximately 6,000 homes in South Manchester and is halfway through a programme of creating 1,600 new homes.An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Finance Team for a professional senior accountant. For the right person we offer a competitive salary, excellent contributory pension scheme, and 25 days holiday (rising 1 day per year of service up to 30 days) anda non-contributory healthcare cash plan.We are looking for a qualified CCAB accountant or part-qualified to the penultimate stage of any CCAB body. You will have:* At least five years experience in general finance operation, can prepare budgets, management accounts, statutory accounts, cash flows and applying correct VAT treatment.* Expert knowledge of social housing rent regulations and service charge legislation.* Experience of developing systems, ledgers and processes to achieve optimal operation, and able to supervise the work of colleagues.Your main responsibilities would include:Rent and Service Charges1. Manage the setting of rents & service charges for all tenures and the delivery of the annual rent increase, including preparation and publication of procedure notes for service managers and staff to operate when letting properties and updating rentalcollection agent systems to revise direct debits and benefit authority records.2. Lead the assessment & monitoring of the Groups service charge arrangements including preparation of annual service charge statements and related communications with residents, and the setting of charges for new development schemes. Co-ordinate contributionsfrom other teams via the Service Change Group.3. Support service managers with advice and guidance on the operation of rents, service charges and sinking funds, their eligibility for benefits, ensuring compliance section 20 consultation, regulatory and other legislative requirements.4. Oversee rental processing and related accounting arrangements. Provide a comprehensive, accurate and timely assessment of rental collection performance. Manage the systems, processes and relationships with external parties which facilitate rent collection.Suppliers and Sundry Debts5. Oversee an effective invoice processing & payables function and the delivery of a payables improvement plan which includes system enhancements for more efficient processes.6. Manage and develop the finance system, liaise with the system provider and other RPs.7. Oversee an effective accounts receivable function which raises and collects sundry debts.Accounts and Budget Holders8. Oversee preparation of management accounting entries within set timescales for rents and service charges, voids and bad debts, facility costs and the Trusts leasehold, shared ownership, market rent and commercial properties.9.
