Job Description

A great opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join a rapidly growing and highly respected business based near Manchester Airport.As a result of growth and further expansion combined with strategic restructure of the team the business are now looking for an ambitious Finance Assistant to support the Finance Team in day to day operations and contribute as a vital part in delivering overallbusiness objectives.Focus of the role:The basis for this role will be around accounts payable function however there will be a requirement to support the preparation of monthly management accounts, journal preparation and posting as well as reporting KPIs and mid-month forecasting. This is a keyrole in supporting preparation of monthly management accounts and aiding consolidation to group accounts as well as providing key management information.Main duties:

  • Ownership of accounts payable function ensuring accurate and timely invoice to order allocation within in house ERP system and accurate upload to Xero.
  • Supplier statement reconciliation and payment run preparation.
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations within Xero.
  • Handling of accounts payable queries and payment cashflow forecasts.
  • Ensuring accounts payable ledgers are kept clean and maintained to high level of accuracy following up queries and reporting as part of balance sheet schedules on a monthly basis.
  • Highlight deviations in cost to ensure cost control and accuracy of budgets / forecasts.
  • Run monthly accruals and prepayments process to ensure accuracy on reported costs across Manchester and Leeds offices and preparation of related journals.
  • Update Xero accounts for final month end journals and reporting.
  • Support reporting with production of KPIs and mid-month forecasts on cost base.
  • Ownership of expenses procedure to ensure timely and accurate payment of monthly expense claims across the business.
Person specification:
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking with ability to use initiative to problem-solve demonstrating eagerness to take ownership and responsibility for own activities.
  • Must have good organisational and time management skills and be able to work well under pressure whilst demonstrating attention to detail with an attitude of caring about that they do and the impact they make.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel (ability to use vlookup, sumif, pivot tables etc) Word, Outlook and Powerpoint as well as accuracy in basic Mathematics and the English language.
  • Experience of Xero accounts an advantage but not a necessity.
  • Previous finance / accounts assistant experience required.
