Job Description

The firm provides specialist legal and complementary services in a broad range of areas and our clients are the centre of it all.We are looking for a proactive part time former Family Solicitor in a non-fee earning support lawyer role to join a specialist Family team. This presents an exciting opportunity for Family lawyers with experience of both Private and Public proceedings to join our leading Law firm.Ideally you will have around 15 years PQE plus with relevant expertise of mixed private (non-legal aid) Family Law caseload (Divorce, Matrimonial Finance, Children, TOLATA/Cohabitation disputes, Nuptial agreements) of at least Associate level.At Slater and Gordon Lawyers (UK) we are inclusive.   • Assist the National Family Team with complaints (reviews/responses/liaising with client care and Legal Ombudsman)
  • Costs drafting work on cases (Forms H /H1 /Schedules) and costs update letters to clients.
  • Debtors - supporting the team in proactively managing debt (active and aged debt) and complying with the stop work check policy, demonstrating sound management and reduction of debtor levels.
  • Organisation of ranks and rates for the team.
  • Organisation of precedents for the team.
  • Ensuring the team are kept abreast of key legal/procedural developments.
  • About you.
  • Former Family Solicitor (ideally 15 years PQE plus) with relevant expertise of mixed private (non legal aid) Family Law caseload (Divorce, Matrimonial Finance, Children, TOLATA/Cohabitation disputes, Nuptial agreements) of at least Associate level.
  • Costs drafting skills (Form H/H1 and costs schedules)
  • Costs managements skills (experience in drafting costs update letters to client and revision of costs estimates)
  • Understanding of and compliance with The Solicitors Regulation Authority Account Rules and sound experience of operating financial ledgers to consider costs positions on Family Law files.
  • Can adapt to new modern technology/work on a paperless basis
  • Can work under pressure and to tight deadlines where necessary
