Job Description

Salary: £26,817.00Job Type: Full Time, PermanentLocation: GM Central - Bolton SouthBenefits: Competitive pension, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service, cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans for public transport plus much more.Reporting to the Head of Facilities & Estate Management, the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible to lead the delivery of horticultural and grounds maintenance services to GPHG neighbourhoods and to provide excellent customer and community services.You will work across GPHG geographically dispersed sites as required in order to manage service delivery.PURPOSE OF ROLE:To work with other GPHG colleagues and external partners to maintain clean, green and safe environments through providing excellent grounds maintenance services to customers and communitiesTo undertake a development and reporting role on the service which includes evaluation, wider environmental good practice and the day to day supervision of teams to ensure high quality standards and maximum efficiency is delivered.To deliver high quality services in line with the Service Delivery Framework.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTo report directly to the Head of Facilities & Estate Management in relation to performance issues affecting the service.To ensure horticultural and general maintenance to all GPHG open spaces including grass cutting, edging, hedge trimming, pruning, planting, replenishment planting, seeding, weeding and spraying. Duties include site preparation, removal of litter, fly tippingand debris.To ensure our sites including communal areas in and around schemes are maintained in a condition thats litter picked and free from debris in line with service standards.Operation of a range of hand tools and equipment (including power tools) and to ensure daily checks are carried for own use and that of teams to identify any defects and to ensure damage is reported and maintenance issues are actioned with immediate effect.To report graffiti, vandalism, repairs and defects on sites, schemes and the environment.To adhere to all relevant quality standards and Health and Safety / COSHH requirementsInterpretation of site plans, site preparation and construction for soft and hard landscaping.To work with pesticides in accordance with regulations and to ensure the safe conditions and use of chemicals and pesticides for the colleagues assigned to you.To have day to day on site supervisory responsibilities for the teams and vehicles, tools and equipment, chemicals /pesticides and materials you are assigned to be working with. This includes delivering Tool Box Talks, face to face training, facilitating E-Learningand giving instruction, ensuring operatives have the right tools, equipment and knowledge/ability to complete job role and tasks assigned.You will have overall responsibility to check standards and timeliness of work and ensure all Health and Safety and risk assessments are adhered to and comprehensive and timely records are kept. You are responsible for the reporting of accidents, hazards andincidents for the operatives assigned to you.You are responsible to ensure the provision of H&S PPE and uniform meets service standards at all times and to ensure immediate liaison with the Distribution Centre to replace any damaged articles.RIDDORTo be responsible for the safe storage and use, routine checking and maintenance of repairs to vehicles, tools and equipment and management of chemicals / pesticidesTo ensure any safeguarding concerns are reported promptly and in line with guide lines and appropriate action is taken.Person SpecificationDesirableIOSH / NEBOSH qualificationLANTRA or equivalent machinery trainingHorticultural qualificationTrained PA1 & PA6A certificationFirst AidESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:Full driving Licence and willingness to travelA minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar role in a social, commercial or private sector company . Must have experience and a clear understanding of customer service and in particular delivering a Grounds Maintenance cyclical service.Experience of ensuring 100% compliance and managing risks, legally and on H&S in an operational environment. Knowledge of RIDDOR, COSHH regulations and Health and Safety at Work regulations.Knowledge of legal requirements , health and Safety, Industry legislation and good practiceExtensive experience in managing and supervising maintenance work undertaken by internal workforce/ contracted workforce to ensure high quality work and delivering excellent customer satisfactionExperience of operating a range of power tools, equipment and PPE requirements in a Grounds Maintenance serviceExperience of regularly report performances of the service to management in order to provide statistical information relating to works, performance and customer satisfaction.Experience of collating information in an organised and planned way and presenting this in a way that is easy to understand.Experience and understanding of safeguarding and the potential risks to customers, the wider community and Great Places.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:Understanding of people and ability to get the best out of the team to drive a customer focussed team to deliver resultsTo effectively use coaching and mentoring techniques to help operatives develop and identify actions and solutions for themselves.Not afraid of providing challenge and having difficult conversationsAn ability to work in uncertainty and maintain a positive approach.Have resilience and emotional intelligence to be able to cope with and manage difficult situations, whilst showing understanding and empathyCommitment to work in partnership with others for the benefit of Great Places customersRef: 137 408
