Job Description

Environmental & Sustainability Project Lead, Salary: c£27-32k negotiable dependant on skills / experience, 37.5hrs per week MondayFriday (flexible around work times), Flexibility around remote working but with a requirement to attend the officesin Glossop when required. Due to continued growth and success an exciting opportunity for an Environmental & Sustainability Project Lead has arisen within an award-winning and market leading supplier of rugs to the retail sector. We are keen to hear from candidates with Environmental& Sustainability Management experience OR candidates that can demonstrate a passion for sustainability and the environment and are looking to pursue a career in this area. Recent graduates will be considered.The role:

  • Lead on the delivery of the company sustainability strategy and identify opportunities for further development within the company
  • Work closely with the companys outsourced sustainability consultancy, who provide strategy and delivery support.
  • To own the development and delivery of the Sustainability Action Plan working with teams across the company to drive initiatives across all business areas.
  • Lead on the review of companys Sustainability plans and to update these as required.
  • Raise awareness of sustainability issues among colleagues and suppliers, and help make sustainability part of business decision-making
  • Create sustainability training for colleagues and suppliers
  • To be alert to opportunities for fund raising for sustainability projects and apply for funding from grants and other providers.
Candidate requirements:
  • Have a passion for sustainability and the environment, with up-to-the-minute knowledge of climate and sustainability issues.
  • Experience as an Environmental & Sustainability Lead would be an advantage but we are equally keen to hear from candidates that can demonstrate a passion for sustainability and the environment and are looking to pursue a career in this field.
  • An understanding of technical matters relating to environmental management and the opportunities for improvements.
  • Ability to develop strong and meaningful relationships with people inside and outside the business
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment & work with others to drive change.
  • Desire to make a real difference and have a positive impact on the company future.
