Job Description

Role OverviewWe are currently looking for an experienced Downstream Scientist to join a growing biotechnology organisation based in Manchester. You will be joining a team of world leaders and contribute to collaborations whilst working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.Duties and Responsibilities

  1. You will be responsible for fermentation analytics as well as developing downstream processing techniques.
  2. You will carry out purification methods and techniques for enzyme modification.
  3. As the Downstream Scientist you will collaborate with both the fermentation and the formulation team and be responsible for ensuring the whole process provides suitable products.
  4. You will carry out a number of analytical techniques such as HPLC, MS, GC and FTIR and be responsible for carrying out some QC activities.
  5. Method development and validation will be among your duties as well as carrying out downstream separation processes and running fermentation.
Education and ExperienceWe are looking to identify the following skills and experience in your profile:
  1. BSc or MSc and a number of years of relevant industry experience or PhD and a number of years of industry experience.
  2. Suitable industry or academic experience carrying out downstream processing and fermentation activities.
  3. Previous experience with method development and validation.
  4. Experience in a number of analytical techniques such as, but not limited to, HPLC, MS, GC FTIR.
