Our single hospital service will make real and lasting improvements to health outcomes and quality of life across the city of Manchester.This extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health care in Greater Manchester provides a wealth of career opportunities for great people. Following a reconfiguration of services, the Gynaecology Division at Saint Mary’s Hospital are seeking 2 experienced Directorate Managers in Gynaecology.The Division of Gynaecology is made up of several sub-specialist services including a tertiary Urogynaecology Unit, Oncology Unit, and a large specialised Emergency Gynaecology Unit. We provide services across 3 hospital sites across central and south Manchester and this will expand to include North Manchester following April.One of the posts will be responsible for the Department of Reproductive Medicine which includes Saint Mary’s IVF unit (the first NHS assisted conception provider in the UK) as well as andrology and embryology services and laboratories, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis and menopause services. This post holder will also be responsible for the line management and oversight of a Deputy Directorate Manager with responsibility for Urogynaecology and Emergency Gynaecology Services across the Managed Clinical Service.The second post will cover our large benign Gynaecology service which is delivered by 20 consultants as well as junior and specialty grade doctors, highly skilled specialist nurses and ANPs. This postholder will also be responsible for the line management and oversight of a Deputy Directorate Manager with responsibility for Gynae-Oncology and Colposcopy services.Both teams will be supported by an Assistant Directorate Manager.In this exciting, fast pace and challenging role, you’ll be responsible for the leadership and operational delivery of all services within your Directorate and subspecialty areas. From quality of services, performance and service improvements to waiting lists and finances, you’ll work closely with your clinical lead with the support of the Divisional Management Team to oversee and continually improve services for patients accessing our services.This is a post which presents a fantastic opportunity for experienced Directorate Managers to lead within a specialist organisation which is due to become the provider responsible for the majority of all Gynaecology services in Greater Manchester and is one of the largest Gynaecology Providers in the NHS. The post holder will have opportunities to widen their portfolios and take on strategic work as appropriate and will be mentored, supported and developed to prepare for the next step in their careers to a more senior leadership role should that be their ambition. The scale of services along with the full and ambitious strategic agenda make this an ideal post for experienced Directorate Managers to complete their portfolios and take on a wide range of exciting and challenging areas of responsibility.A new management structure has recently been introduced to the Division which provides positive opportunities for management development and progression allowing applicants with skills, potential and aspirations to be fully supported to enhance their skills and advance in their career.Applicants will need relevant operational management experience in a surgical specialty, preferably including oncology, along with experience of managing patient access targets.
