Job Description

Diesel Fitter: Location: Trafford Park, Salary: £40,000p/a. Family run business, employee well being is paramount, you’re a name not a number. Established over 40 years. proactive over environmental issues, taking steps to lower carbon footprint,gives back to the community,A large civil engineering firm are looking for an experienced Diesel Fitter to join their‘family’at their depot located in the Trafford Park area. As the Diesel Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance of Plant machinery and ensuringthe workshop is managed effectively and efficiently at all times whilst adhering to statutory and regulatory requirements.Diesel Fitter Role and responsibilities

  • Carrying out maintenance, servicing, repairs and inspection on all plant machinery such as planers, pavers, excavators and vib rollers, this can be both on and off-site and include mechanical and non – mechanical plants along with specialist equipment
  • Raising workshop jobs, ensuring these are added to the system with relevant details of all jobs including hours, parts, service maintenance and repair work
  • Carry out stock management, reporting any issues and delays that may occur
  • Ensuring parts are available prior to begin any maintenance on plants
  • Requesting purchase orders to be raised for parts and liaising with Transport Manager on stock holding suggestions
  • Ensure all damage repairs are reported and photographic evidence is provided
  • All Documentation to be completed in line with company policy
Skills and experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds in Plant Mechanics, Construction machinery repair
  • Knowledge and experience of Komatsu, JCB, Caterpillar or similar equipment
  • Good working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics and fault finding
