Job Description

Development & Treasury AccountantLocation: Didsbury, ManchesterSalary: £34,319 to £38,132Full Time, Permanent - 35 hours per weekLocation: Didsbury, ManchesterSouthway Housing Trust is a community based housing organisation committed to providing high quality services to the people and neighbourhoods that we work in. Southway Housing Trust is a "not-for-profit" landlord, based in Didsbury, managing, and improvingapproximately 6,000 homes in South Manchester and is part way through a programme of creating 800 new homes.An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Finance team for a professional senior accountant and for the right person we offer a 35-hour week, competitive salary, excellent contributory pension scheme, and 25 days holiday (rising 1 day per year of serviceup to 30 days) and a non-contributory healthcare cash plan.We are looking for a Development and Treasury Accountant, AAT or part-qualified to the penultimate stage of any CCAB body and demonstrate either by experience or by any plans they have to qualify that they have capabilities akin to a CCAB qualified accountantwith at least five years experience in general finance operation.Advanced accounts and general ledger skills, able to undertake routine and more complex accountancy work with the minimum of supervision. Experience of preparing budgets, management accounts, statutory accounts, cash flows and VAT returns. Experience ofinvestment appraisal techniques and monitoring capital budgets.Good verbal communication skills, able to manage relations with internal customers effectively. Strong excel skills, with a knowledge of a range of functions and their application. A positive attitude and a customer focus are essential.Your main responsibilities would include:1. Prepare monthly financial reports monitoring:- development spending, grant income and sales receipts,- projected development costs compared to approved scheme totals- liaise with the development team to assess and interpret the results2. Manage cash flow, banking and treasury aspects and review of bank reconciliations. Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly corporate cash flows to reflect the above, monitor day-to-day cash requirements and administer invested funds.3. Create payments and new beneficiaries, manage bank deposits, cash handling, and other banking arrangements and administration of bank cards.4. Assist the Finance Manager - Investment assess and monitor Southways funding arrangements. Ensure interest and financing costs are transacted correctly.5. Review development scheme appraisals and approve acquisition property appraisals comparing results to the Investment Framework criteria.6. Assess out-turn scheme appraisals upon the completion of projects.7. Assist in the day-to-day administration of the development appraisal software system, including the maintenance and update of development templates.8. Prepare management and statutory accounts for Southways development company.9. Assist in the production of the Groups final accounts, by preparing relevant accounting entries and supporting schedules.10.
