Job Description

We are Manchester Local Care Organisation - an exciting, new public sector organisation that is bringing together NHS community health services and social care services in the city. We’re driven by the aim of improving the health of local people in Manchester by working across organisational boundaries.The first health and social care staff have been deployed to us from April 2018 and are now starting to work in new ways across the city. Our teams work as one in the neighbourhoods they serve – delivering and designing services in partnership with local people. We also provide key services that work across wider localities and city-wide. We believe that our pioneering approach will make a massive difference to the health of people in our city and we are looking for you to join our team and help us do this.You will be joining our large and busy Manchester team who work 7 days a week alongside the midwifery staff on the maternity wards to deliver a high quality newborn hearing screening service designed to identify newborn babies with hearing impairment problems as early as possible.The service is based across 3 hospitals including St. Marys in central Manchester, Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester General. You will be based at Moss Side Health Centre however you will be required to work flexibly as you will need to work at each of the other hospitals from time to time, and support community clinics. This means you need to have access to transport and be a car driver. Your role will be working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday with additional on call weekends on a rota basis, one weekend in five.We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and caring person to complement our existing newborn hearing screening team. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, good attention to detail, organization and enthusiasm. Some experience of working in the NHS, line management and the newborn hearing screening programme (NHSP) would be beneficial.You will be responsible for the daily line management, supervision and appraisal of three newborn hearing supervisors, one from each site, as well as ensuring a high quality of service is delivered across each site to maintain a uniform service across Manchester.It is a requirement of this post that the successful candidate undertakes relevant trust induction, e-learning, ECA (External Competency Assessment) and a work based Level 3 Health Screening diploma unless the candidate has prior experience and qualifications in hearing screening or audiology.
