Job Description

DATA ENGINEERING LEAD FULLY REMOTE (Occasional travel to office required)Up to £85,000 This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a team of Data Engineers, whilst supporting overarching technology strategy and direction. This company is looking for someone to provide critical technical advice and guidance, as well as to help develop best practicesand coding standards to support the Engineers in their day-to-day work.THE COMPANYA market-leading financial services company striving to pursue its commitment to corporate social responsibility. Operating within a data-driven environment, they seek to offer a premium customer experience and contribute positively to the wider communitiesin which they operate.THE ROLEYou will:

  • Provide critical technical support and guidance to Data Engineers and Analysts.
  • Understand and teach the engineering skills needed to support the development of high-quality code, components, systems, and solutions.
  • Pick up and deliver user stories across a range of products from real-time ingestion pipelines, data warehouses, and data models to machine learning pipelines and graph databases.
  • Provide technical direction, patterns, principles, and coding standards for the Data Engineers.
  • Be responsible for recruiting the right level of person; technically competent, motivated, and team orientated.
  • Effectively communicate with a wide variety of senior stakeholders.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCETo be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Extensive experience working in a Senior Data Engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based solutions (GCP preferred).
  • Previous experience of working with products that have regular releases through automated CI / CD processes.
  • Strong exposure to Scaled Agile practices and ways of working, including the use of tools such as Jira, Confluence etc.
  • Proven ability to mentor or manage teams
