Nature of the role: Full time (we will consider part-time or job-share arrangements for the right candidate). Responsible for: Leading on the delivery of our first degree apprenticeship courses in Manchester (Level 4 - 6, Digital Innovation Degree Apprenticeship - Software Developer focus initially)Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 dependent on relevant experience.Location and travel: the post holder will be required to lead face-to-face delivery in central Manchester on a regular basis. They are united by their passion and enthusiasm for tech.We are at an exciting time in the development of Ada, launching a hub for Ada activity in Manchester, starting with a pilot cohort of apprentices in February 2021.We are looking to recruit someone inspired by Adas mission and energised by the chance to play a key role in establishing Ada in Manchester from the ground up. Your role will be integral in adopting and adapting Adas current apprenticeship programme to a regional specific context, and you will work closely with our academic team in London on the development and delivery of course material. You will have experience of teaching or skills development in the tech sector, and an understanding of what good teaching and learning looks like. The ideal candidate will also have either direct industry experience or recent knowledge of a range of the skills and tools needed to be successful in entry-level roles such as Software Engineer, Developer or Data Analyst. While you wont be expected to have expertise in every topic, you will have a strong grasp of how a range of areas in the teaching of advanced digital skills fit together. Act as the course delivery lead for the pilot cohort and subsequent cohorts of degree apprentices in Manchester

Directly deliver substantial portions of the curriculum, deploying both face to face and remote delivery, and ensuring teaching style and learning materials are differentiated for a range of abilities and prior experience

Work closely with consultants and colleagues to ensure effective delivery of the full curriculum

Adapt and develop existing and new course materials in collaboration with consultants and colleagues in London

Create and mark assignments and exams

Provide feedback to apprentices on their progress and provide additional support where necessary

Work collaboratively to ensure that individualised support programmes are in place for learners from diverse backgrounds

Support the programme management team to review work-based evidence and ensure that apprentices have the best possible chance of success in all aspects of their course

Other Responsibilities:

Get involved in the design and delivery of other Ada projects in Manchester as required

Contribute to the delivery of modules to our London cohorts (initially to become familiar with Ada apprenticeships and occasionally after that as needed)

As part of the wider teaching team at Ada, you will collaborate with your peers (including all our 6th form staff) and team members, giving and receiving feedback, planning ahead and supporting each other to ensure an ever-improving experience for our apprentices and a culture of continued professional development for all staff members

The PersonEssential:

EITHER: Professional experience in software development

AND/OR Degree or equivalent in a technical subject (Computer Science, Software Engineering, STEM with demonstrable use of technology)

Teaching or skills development experience

Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript or Python would be an advantage) and familiarity with others.

Desirable:

Experience of course design and delivery

Experience of academic assessment

Experience using remote learning tools would be an advantage

Post-graduate qualification in a technical subject or equivalent experience
