Job Description

COSTS LAWYERSOur client has a number of vacancies in for experienced costs lawyers to join its national costs team. This is a a top 100 UK law firm and the role is based in its Manchester office.Role OverviewThere are a number of vacancies available and my client is keen to hear from anyone with at least 12 months experience in legal costs work. The team undertakes a variety of work including:

  • Drafting budgets, and challenging opponents budgets, subsequent negotiations and attending CCMCs where appropriate.
  • Considering and challenging claims for fixed costs and associated disbursements to include handling negotiations, drafting Points of Dispute and managing Part 8 proceedings
  • Negotiating settlement of third party costs claims, drafting Points of Dispute and managing procedural issues as appropriate.
  • Drafting N260s and bills of costs (to include E-bills), handling negotiations, drafting Replies and managing procedural issues as appropriate.
    • Candidate ProfileThe firm is seeking costs lawyers with the following experience/characteristics:
  • Proven experience working in a legal costs team.
  • Solicitor, CILEx, Qualified Costs Lawyer or experienced costs paralegal.
  • Previous experience of costs negotiation dealing with costs recovery and / or adverse costs
  • IT literate.
