Job Description

TaxServiceLine Overview We provide bespoke advice in all areas of taxation, helpingourclientsto navigate thecomplexitiesoftaxcodes, often in multiplejurisdictions, and tohelpthem ensure they are fulfilling all theirobligationsand paying the correct amount oftax. Inthis way wehelpthem to manage an area ofsignificantfinancial andreputationalrisk and to make properly informeddecisionsabout theirtaxposition whether they are anindividual, abusinessowner or a corporateorganisation. We alsohelpclientsresolveany disputes they havewiththetaxauthoritiesas swiftly as possible. Job Purpose To beresponsiblefor aportfolioofclientsand buildrelationshipswiththoseclients and develop new relationshipsfor which you are therelationshiptaxmanager for, ensuring the client receives a bespoketaxservicewhich is deliveredefficientlyandeffectively.Tohelpthe Manchester officegrowourPrivately OwnedBusinessesby buildingrelationshipswithourclients, adopting best practice processes, use oftechnologyandcontinuousprocessimprovement anddevelopourpeople.Tohelptheteamand the wider office grow throughgettinginvolvedwithbusinessdevelopmentinitiatives.This will range fromgettinginvolvedin pitch and proposalopportunitiestogettinginvolvedin widerinitiativeswithintermediariesand otherservicelines. Role &Responsibilities The role of thetaxmanager/senior manager will include:

  • BuildingrelationshipswithaportfolioofclientsinourPrivately OwnedBusinesssector
  • Understanding our clients issues and anticipating their needs whilst also helping them to manage their risk.
  • Negotiatingand raising fees and beingresponsiblefor WIPmanagementon yourportfolioofclients.
  • Proactively talking toclientsabouttaxopportunitieswhich may be relevant to them, and workingwiththetaxpartners, and widertaxteamto deliver on such work.
  • Liaisingwithcolleagues in differentservicelines andgettinginvolvedin office wideinitiatives.
  • Gettinginvolvedin proposals for newbusinessand attending pitchpresentations.
  • Developingthe widerteam, through technical excellence, soft skilldevelopmentand on the job training.This will include appraising more junior members of theteamincludingobjectivesetting and having theabilitytoencourageand fosterdevelopmentoftheteam.
Skills, Knowledge andExperience
  • ACA and/or CTA (or qualified by experience)
  • Abilityto build excellent clientrelationshipskills
  • Abilityto build excellentrelationshipswithmembers of theteam.
  • Extensiveexperienceof workingwithaportfolioofclients (ranging from new startups to established PE backed or family owned businesses)to deliver on annualcorporationtaxreportingrequirements and provided rich advisory services
  • Demonstrate broad and strong technicaltaxknowledge andexperience;
  • Broadexperienceof managing the financials onclients, delivering on budgets andnegotiatingfeeswithclients.
  • Abilityto work within deadlines and deliver on agreed timescales
  • Experienceofidentifyingopportunitiesforbusinessdevelopmentontaxclients(and ideally across otherservicelines)
  • Broadexperienceof coaching and mentoring junior members of theteam,
  • Willingness to develop leadership skills
  • Ideally proficient in Alphatax. But as this role is an advisory role this is less important. A range of skills and experience will be required. You could be helping with R&D work, reorganisations, transaction support (acquisition and disposal) dealing withboth management and owners. You should be competent as discussing/identifying wider tax issues and whilst such specialist tax advice would be coordinated by you it will be delivered by those experts
