A small, welcoming and established niche software business (over 30 years writing timetabling software for schools) requires a detail-orientated writer to manage all aspects of the company’s written material. Working hours are negotiable; they could be full-time (9-5), part-time, flexible hours, or even term-time only. Their quiet and pleasant working office environment, where staff are casually dressed, is the perfect place for your strong writing / grammar / technical writing / proof-reading skills to flourish. It would be an advantage if you had experience of writing for the education sector, Edtech or for software manuals, help-screens, mailshots, etc (digital and printed).There is the potential for some home-working, as well as free onsite parking and good connections (5 minute drive from M60). You have the opportunity to make a big impact on the business, coming up with new ideas and implementing them. You’ll ideally be used to authoring manuals and updating all company literature. Checking feedback and various other forms, reviewing and updating website / KnowledgeBase articles regularly, devising and sending out e-mailshots and newsletters, creating or collating specific content.You will be customer-focused and meticulous, with a strong attention to detail, and enjoy words and laying them out. Previous experience working with (or in) schools would be an advantage, as your audience will be secondary-school teachers.You probably know at least some of these: Adobe Indesign, Help+manual, Camtasia, Kayako, WordPress, Adobe Acrobat, and may have used Dreamweaver, SurveyGizmo or SendBlaster.
