Job Description

A small, welcoming and established niche software business (over 30 years writing timetabling software for schools) requires a detail-orientated writer to manage all aspects of the company’s written material. Working hours are negotiable; they could be full-time (9-5), part-time, flexible hours, or even term-time only. Their quiet and pleasant working office environment, where staff are casually dressed, is the perfect place for your strong writing / grammar / technical writing / proof-reading skills to flourish. Checking feedback and various other forms, reviewing and updating website / KnowledgeBase articles regularly, devising and sending out e-mailshots and newsletters, creating or collating specific content. You will be customer-focused and meticulous, with a strong attention to detail, and enjoy words and laying them out. Previous experience working with (or in) schools would be an advantage, as your audience will be secondary-school teachers. You probably know at least some of these: Adobe Indesign, Help+manual, Camtasia, Kayako, WordPress, Adobe Acrobat, and may have used Dreamweaver, SurveyGizmo or SendBlaster. You may have further skills or interests in SEO and Google analytics.20 days’ holiday rising to 25 over 5 years as well as bank holidays and the Christmas break.Aligned job titles you may currently have include:Content developer, Content designer, Technical writer, Product author, Technical author, Technical content designer, Information developer, and similar.
