Job Description

THE POSTWe are seeking to appoint a committed Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. It is intended that this 1.0 WTE post will particularly contribute to the head and neck pathology and endocrine pathology sub-specialist services with opportunity if desired to contribute to other sub-specialist services according to the experience of the candidate and the needs of the department. The post will be based at the Oxford Road Site but will contribute to head and neck pathology across both Oxford Road and Wythenshawe sites.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESYou will be part of a team of 24 full and part time Consultants in the Adult Histopathology Department. The main responsibilities of this post would be:-

  • Participation in the surgical histopathology service with particular contribution to the head and neck pathology and endocrine pathology sub-specialist services.
  • There may be opportunity if desired to contribute to other sub-specialist areas in Histopathology including renal pathology, skin pathology, cardiothoracic pathology, gynaecological pathology and gastrointestinal pathology according to the experience of the candidate and the needs of the department.
  • Involvement in appropriate clinico-pathological and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings with respect to Histopathology.
  • Contribution to the training and supervision of junior medical staff, biomedical scientists and Advanced Biomedical Scientist Practitioners.
  • Willingness to contribute to the effective management of the Histopathology service.
  • There will also be opportunity to contribute to the autopsy service, if desired
