Job Description

The Compliance & Risk Officer has responsibility for advising and supporting the business to carry out its regulatory obligations and ensuring good customer outcomes are delivered. The role sits within the Risk & Compliance Function which acts as the companyssecond line of defence in the three lines of defence model and is responsible for advising, overseeing, monitoring and challenging the companys compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.The role will involve:

  • Provide timely, clear and pragmatic regulatory risk advice and support to the business.
  • Provide advice and support in relation to relevant business initiatives, business change and projects.
  • Review and sign off new and significant changes to financial promotions and product scheme sheets prior to launch
  • Support the Head of Compliance in producing MI and reports for the Board, Executive Committee, Risk & Compliance Management Committee, Assets and Liability Committee, and quarterly Audit, Risk & Compliance Board Committee.
  • Assist the Head of Compliance in defining and maintaining the companys Compliance related policies, the Compliance Functions Operating Policy and other compliance team manuals and procedures.
  • Provide ad hoc regulatory training as and when required.
  • Assist the Head of Compliance with the development of the companys annual Compliance Monitoring Plan
  • Review and respond to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) following referral of second stage complaints
Key Requirements:
  • Good understanding of the regulatory environment in relation to savings and mortgages
  • Knowledge and experience in retail conduct risk related issues
  • Strong experience of providing advice and guidance on regulatory standards
  • Experience of conducting and reporting on monitoring compliance with regulatory standards
