Job Description

Job DescriptionMy client is currently looking for a passionate developer to join an exciting team working with cutting-edge technology. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to find innovative solutions to complex challenges whilst playing a big part of ateam, who help keep the UK safe. You will come in as a key member of a Software Engineering team and you will be working alongside our National Security Customers to build systems that support their core mission capabilities, as well as working as part ofDevOps teams. You will have regular contact with end-users to efficiently develop, deploy and maintain applications and services on AWSThis is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to shape the clients cloud adoption journey. The team you will join will be directly making a great difference to the systems you work on and youll also be working for an organisation who makes a hugeimpact to the security of the UK.You will have experience in many of the following:

  • Good experience with AWS and notable experience solving business issues / Regarded as an AWS subject matter expert
  • Demonstrable expertise with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, ELB, SNS, SQS, IAM
  • Working in an Agile environment (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP, etc)
  • Scripting abilities with languages such as: Shell, Bash, or Python
  • Good coding experience of at least 1 Lambda compatible language
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code technologies (eg CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform)
  • Source controlling your code with Version Control Systems, for example Git, Mercurial, Perforce
It would be great if you also had experience in some of these, but if not well help you with them:
  • AWS Certification at Associate level eg Solution Architect, Developer or DevOps
  • Expertise in microservices and API design
  • Docker, and container runtime platforms such as Kubernetes, EKS, ECS etc
  • Strong understand of operational concepts on AWS, particularly monitoring and observability, FinOps
  • Utilising CI/CD tools, such as Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, Bitbucket, in order to streamline delivery of new features and fixes
  • Continual testing of code using Automated Testing Frameworks
  • A working knowledge of Linux, networking, routing & firewalls etc
SC and DV Clearance is required for this role. If you are not currently Security Cleared, you will need to be eligible for this and willing to go through the process.How we will support you
