Job Description

Cloud Data EngineerUnique opportunity for a skilled Data Engineering professional to join a multi award-winning, top-tier Microsoft & AWS Partner, working on bleeding-edge technology solutions in Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR), Smart City, AI and other disruptive innovations, at enterprise scale.This business is a true leader in its field, with a pipeline of innovative projects, many of which are "firsts" and an impressive number of accolades to their name. They are one of the most sought-after employers in this area and provide tremendous scope for career acceleration, gaining significant early experience in future technology.If you are a skilled Cloud Data Engineer, passionate about cloud computing, this role offers the opportunity to utilise the full breadth of your data engineering skills, working on cloud platforms to support the delivery of solutions for high-profile public and commercial sector clients (many household-name brands). Working on a variety of fast paced projects you will work with a very high calibre team to;

  • Own full end-to-end cloud data warehouse and data engineering workstream design and delivery
  • Deliver and maintain data pipelines (Designing, building, testing etc)
  • Deliver enterprise cloud platforms and software, upholding security and identity governance
  • Automate and build solutions following architectural best practices
  • Engage with clients in shaping projects and acceptance criteria.
  • Work consultatively and collaboratively to propose technical designs
  • Develop data integrations (many complex IoT related integrations. Serverless APIs etc)
  • Migrate data - often from legacy to cloud platforms
  • Continually upskill and seek out opportunity for improvements to processes, codebases delivery etc.
  • …. And more, covering all Data Engineering components of major cloud native projects.
  • Required skills and experience;
  • Extensive experience of designing and building enterprise scale data solutions on cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
  • Exceptional technical competence in Python and SQL
  • Ideally you will also have some knowledge of Javascript, Scala, .Net and/OR perhaps R (not essential)
  • Strong skills and experience in cloud data warehousing on Azure or AWS; spanning Migrations, Architecture, MDM, Quality, Governance with a sound knowledge of Kimball & Inmon methodologies.
  • Developing complex APIs (microservices)
  • Confidence in designing event driven architectures for any type of solution (Batch & realtime)
  • A passion to work with cloud native data services (Azure Factory) and to share knowledge and experience with customers and internally.
  • Experience of Apache Spark (ideally Databricks)
  • Full stack experience of either Microsoft (including Azure, SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI etc) and/or AWS stack (Lambda, Redshift, S3 etc)
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Agile practices (including Sprint Planning), testing (unit and integration) etc
  • Experience with containers (Kubernetes and docker) would be great, but not essential
  • Infrastructure as Code also desirable (i.e. Terraform), but not essential
