Saint Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) has been delivering services to people who have experienced sexual violence since 1986. The centre is the busiest SARC in the UK and provides forensic medical and therapeutic medical assessment, and aftercare support and therapy services to children and their families, and men and women of all ages.Our childrens counselling service delivers therapeutic services to children who have experienced sexual violence, and their families, across Greater Manchester. We are looking for a skilled specialist counsellor to join our children’s team. Highly motivated and resourceful you will have experience of working with clients who have experienced sexual violence or trauma and a sound knowledge of offering therapy to clients with post traumatic stress disorder, gained ideally in a multidisciplinary or healthcare environment. Familiar with managing your own caseload, ensuring you maintain a client centred ethos in a pressurised multidisciplinary service you will also be comfortable with working independently as you help drive the development of our service at sites throughout Greater Manchester. As a children’s therapist you will have a post graduate qualification in working therapeutically with children alongside experience of working with our client group. Ideally, you will also be able to deliver evidence based interventions for children with PTSD. You will deliver interventions face to face, by phone and via video. Working patterns are negotiable and it is likely that some evening working will be required. As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to develop your supervision and management skills.St Mary’s Centre has a national and international reputation for first class sexual assault services, innovation and development. You will join a team of experienced therapists within a multidisciplinary service that also includes forensic physicians, crisis workers and ISVAs who work together to provide a high quality, responsive service.
