Job Description

Role: Certification Auditor- PPESalary: Dependent on experienceLocation: Hybrid- initially from the office with mix of home working after training period.Introduction: - Russell-Taylor Group have a fantastic opportunity to support our client who is a group of companies headquartered in the United Kingdom. As a group, the client offers inter-laboratory comparisons, design and supply of laboratorytest equipment, and accredited independent testing and certification of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Marine Equipment.This role will begin as a Certification Auditor, with some desktop type-examination activities to develop product understanding. Auditing work will be international - with travel and work in Europe, North and South America predominantly. The CertificationDepartment offers certification body (ISO 9001:2015, IC Mark), UK approved body (UKCA, PPE 2016/425 as adopted amended in UK law), NI Notified Body (UKNI, (EU) 2016/425 as per Northern Ireland protocol) and European Notified Body (PPER, (EU) 2016/425) services,and also works in close partnership with Safety Equipment Institute, Inc. (SEI).Role and responsibilitiesBased within the Certification Services department, you will work directly with clients to register enquiries and lead their certification projects. Projects will require the processing of new and existing product evaluation applications to the range ofUK, EU and Private product certification schemes. The work is a profession technical service and will involve evaluation of simple and complex protective products, arranging of testing, evaluating test reports, and drafting evaluation reports.The auditing work will see you visit head officers, production facilities and storage facilities of producers of safety equipment, interacting with all client staff from top management, through sales, design, production, warehousing and delivery.You shall report to the Certification Manager of our client, with day-to-day activities overseen by other Certification staff in Reviewer and Decision Maker functions.Future responsibilities (as Auditor) will become:

  • Project management:- Arranging and undertaking off/on-site sampling visits to schedule
  • - Handling, reviewing, and accepting corrective action for our client and Partner Schemes
  • - Arranging and undertaking off/on-site audits to schedule
The Person; Key requirements:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical / scientific subject.
  • Lone working
  • Project management
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Familiarity and ability with Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Willing and able to travel, including some longer trips involving time away.
  • Ethical, morally courageous and professional.
  • Diplomatic, collaborative and tenacious.
  • Self-reliant, decisive and organized.
  • Open-minded, perceptive and versatile.
Additional desirable considerations for preferred candidate
  • Required: National / Regional Driving License.
  • Required: Passport. (EU passport required)
  • Successful completion of an accredited quality system Lead assessor/auditor training course (e.g. ISO 9001:2015).
  • Registered quality system assessor/auditor or equivalent (e.g. IRCA).
  • Direct experience of the design, manufacture or testing of PPE.
  • Experience of certification activities (e.g. ISO 17065, ISO 17021).
  • Experience of laboratory testing (i.e. ISO 17025).
  • Fluent in written and spoken Second language.
  • Quality Management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Quality Management experience in a certification body.
