Job Description

Im currently recruiting for a Category Manager: Packaging for a Growing Food & Drinks Provider in the North-West of England.Category Manager for a leading Food and Drink Supplier, suitable for someone with food/ FMCG experience who is looking to take ownership of the packaging category.Client DetailsMichael Page Procurement & Supply Chain are working with a highly successful Food and Drinks Group, as they look to recruit a Category Manager: Raw Materials, for their North West Operation.This opportunity comes as the business is continuing to grow and they are looking for a driven and passionate individual capable of managing pivotal and increasingly important category, delivering greater supply efficiencys, and improvements across supplierquality and sustainability.DescriptionThe Category Manager will strategically source packaging (circa. £25million+ spend) to improve quality and provide for innovative opportunities at the lowest total cost of ownership:

  • Assume responsibility for annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting of packaging spend across in-house and 3rd party manufacturing.
  • Ensure all packaging is sourced responsibly in line with the clients environmental strategies, and any customer / external regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement category strategies for key packaging items, and develop cross functional activation plans to ensure the envisaged opportunities are delivered and risks mitigated.
  • Develop and implement best practice supplier relationship reviews and introduce appropriate mechanism for measuring and improving supplier performance.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and co-manufacturers procurement functions to develop best practice sourcing and procurement strategies for packaging.
ProfileSuccessful candidates will possess:
  • Thorough understanding of procurement processes and category management
  • Previous experience in a category management role, ideally within food, drink or FMCG businesses
  • Experience of managing packaging would be beneficial
  • Understanding of contract principles and clauses and be able to construct an interpret agreements
  • Youll have strong project leadership, with a proven track record of delivering cross-functional projects working with various teams.
  • You will be commercially aware with experience in a result-driven environment, ideally with responsibility for delivering a P&L.
  • Degree level qualification, ideally business related
  • Associate or student of CIPS, or working to CIPS qualification would be beneficial, but not essential
Job Offer
  • £40-55k, depending upon experience
  • Car/Car Allowance, Bonus, Pens, 25days+BH
  • Flexibility to WFH, circa. 2 days onsite
