Job Description

As the Buyer youll be reporting into the Purchasing Manager and will be responsible for managing the global supplier base, quoting on prices, negotiating costs and ensuring materials arrive on-site ready for production.Client DetailsA great opportunity has arisen within a growing SME manufacturing business in Manchester, which specialise in supplying engineered products to various sectors globally.A company which has exciting plans for growth over the next few years and is investing heavily into people and systems, making it a suitable place to develop your career.DescriptionThe Buyer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Work with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements with the use of ERP/MRP system.
  • Facilitate timely placement of purchase orders. Manage and maintain required stock and safety stock levels.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding orders, delivery dates and costs.
  • Update internal business system with product and supplier details where required.
  • Maintain records and documentation within the department to allow full traceability.
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to understand future requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of Procurement performance.
  • Help to develop and implement KPIs to analyse & improve supplier performance.
  • Consignment Stock Management
  • Maintain document and records for import.
ProfileThe successful candidate for the Buyer role will ideally have the following key skills & qualities:
  • Previous experience in Purchasing and a background in manufacturing
  • An understanding of indirect purchasing is desired
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or studying towards
  • Knowledge of MRP systems
  • A good command of the English language verbal and in writing
  • Experience in ERP systems, preferably JDE
  • Proficient int MS Office applications such as Word and Excel
