Building Surveyor

Job Description

You will have a key role in support of the organisations asset management strategy and investment programmes. • Providing a professional building surveying service to support the development of investment projects, including diagnostic surveys, detailed technical reports, feasibility studies, costings, and producing detailed project specifications / bills quantities/ schedules of work and tender documentation.
• Supporting the development and design of investment projects, and project managing these from inception to completion. (with support of consultants on complex projects)
• Supporting the procurement of new building frameworks by producing detailed specifications / cost schedules and contract documentation.
• Supporting the delivery of investment and maintenance programmes through managing small and medium scale improvement projects, including contractor management, pre and post work inspections, oversight of health and safety compliance in line with CDM, andprocessing of financial claims.
• Providing technical advice and building surveying support to assist colleagues and teams across the business, including property appraisals and reports, highlighting any issues that would affect the sustainability of the stock, including workmanship, materials,design or building construction to support decisions on divesting and acquiring housing stock.

Profile

• Minimum 10 years experience working as a Building Surveyor or equivalent in the construction industry, including contract and project management of planned investment and maintenance works.
• Excellent understanding of building pathology, and the ability to investigate, diagnose and provide solutions to complex property queries and building defects.
• Excellent working knowledge of current building regulations, polices and best practice, research new building products and ensure we are compliant with legislation and good practice. Undertake training as appropriate to the post and to keep abreast of developmentsacross the housing profession.
• Experience of social housing and knowledge of building construction, building regulations, planning regulations, health & safety, building and fire safety, and other legislation and regulatory standards relevant to social housing asset management.
