Manchester City Council are seeking a Building Surveyor to work in theCapital Programme Division on an initial 6 month contract.Pay rate: £40ph UmbrellaLocation: Town Hall Extension/hybridHours: 35 per week 9am-5pmThe Capital Programme Division reports to the Deputy Chief Executive and City Treasurer and is responsible for developing and delivering Major and Minor Capital Programmes across the City. The current value of the programme is £200m pa. The portfolio ofwork is varied and some of our current and previous projects that we have been involved in include for example the construction of new schools, large scale solar PV installations, building demolition, repair, maintenance & refurbishment of heritage buildings,galleries, leisure centres, and park buildings.The Building Surveyor role is based within the Minor Works Team which is responsible for delivering construction, repair and refurbishment projects and programmes such as the Corporate Estates Asset Management Programme which range from £2k to £3m. The teamassists clients to review project requirements and develop programmes of work which achieve economies of scale from a cost, quality and programme delivery perspective and provides a range of specialists from building surveying, mechanical and electrical designservices, structural design, cost contract management, and Construction Design Management (CDM) compliance. The team also offers a Fire Risk Assessment and Principal Designer service.We therefore require a suitably qualified Building Surveyor to deliver and manage work across a diverse portfolio. The successful candidates must have BSc in Building Surveying or an equivalent related qualification and be competent in analysing building defectsand have experience in the analysis of client requirements/developing client briefs.The role holder will have the ability to analyse/challenge the design of others, have experience in use of change control procedures and documentation, and have experience of providing advice on energy use and sustainability.
