Job Description

This role is being advertised by Savills Management Resources (SMR) a wholly owned entity of Savills (UK) Limited but a separate employing entity which is not accredited by Real Living Wage Foundation.Purpose of the RoleThe Building Safety Case Manager will develop, manage, maintain and deliver the Safety Cases for all higher risk buildings as required by The Building Safety Act 2022 at which Savills have been appointed Accountable Person.The Building Safety Case Manager will draft the associated Safety Case Report , which must refer to the totality of the building safety information and include all supporting evidence, including Golden Thread data, identifying how fire and structural riskis being managed, the control of major hazards, therefore reducing the likelihood of major incidents.Savills, as the appointed Accountable Person will be required to keep the Safety Case up to date as a way of providing themselves and residents, with the assurance that they are managing the fire and structural risks associated with their buildings.The role will be based in Manchester or London.Key Responsibilities Develop the Safety Cases, required by the Building Safety Act 2022 for buildings at which Savills have been appointed Accountable Person. Manage the Golden Thread of Information and other building safety data required to support a buildings Safety Case. Write the Safety Case Report for all buildings at which Savills has been appointed Accountable Person. Ensure all buildings in scope of the Building Safety Act 2022 are registered with the Building Safety Regualtor. Coordinate and cooperate the submission of the Building Assessment Certificate application with the Resident Engagement Team. Undertake audits of Higher Risk buildings to ensure the Safety Case principals are being applied on site. Ensure any actions attached to the Building Assessment Certificate are being addressed. Manage a small team of Building Safety Case Coordinators, who will assist with the collation and management of Safety Case data. Assist the Fire Safety Manager maintain effective scrutiny of the building safety regime, created by the Building Safety Act 2022, the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Draft reports as required. Keep informed of any changes in relevant legislation and guidance by undertaking regular CPD. Any other duties that from time to time may be requested of you to satisfy the role.Skills, Knowledge and Experience The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the necessary levels of competency, having an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. IFE, CIOB, RICS, CIH, NEBOSH Gen or Fire Cert, or similar equivalent), will have membership of appropriateprofessional body (e.g. IFE, IFSM or similar) and be able to demonstrate relevant experience in successfully managing complex projects and programmes of work. They will have previously worked in either a facilities management, housing, asset management, data analytics, compliance, construction, health and safety, or building maintenance role. They will have strong data management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and develop relationships with all stakeholders, including residents and regulatory bodies. They will be pragmatic and reasonable in their approach to all issues of fire and structural safety. They will have knowledge of key fire and building safety legislation and guidance, including The Building Safety Act 2022, The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, PAS 8673:2022, PAS 9980:2022,British Standards, the Approved Documents (B), The Fire Safety in Purpose Built Blocks of Flats guidance and the RICS EWS1 revised criteria. They will be able to carry out research, consult relevant guidance and devise practical solutions. They will be able to work with limited supervision, prioritise their work load, and meet deadlines. They will understand the service and maintenance requirements and timescales associated with key fire safety equipment, such as fire alarm and detection systems, EAS, emergency lighting, automatic opening smoke ventilation, dry/wet risers, firefightingequipment and passenger lifts. They will have strong communications skills, be approachable and be able to form and develop effective professional relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and clients, including the Fire and Rescue Service and the Building Safety Regulator They will have experience of and be able to effectively utilise of Microsoft office software.Working HoursFT. 95:30
