Biosurfactant Production Technician - ManchesterSalary – Competitive Salary + Excellent Holidays + Flexible Working Hours + Share Options + PensionThe ClientOur client is facilitating the transition of the $36 billion surfactant market from harmful, oilbased chemicals to biobased alternatives by working with the current market leaders to provide a collaborative production platform.The company is currently completing the build of its pilot facility launching tonne scale production of sophorolipids and work with multiple industrial partners to take the product to market. In line with this, they are fundraising to build their first ktonne scale commercial sophorolipid plant.This highly successful business is expanding its focus beyond sophorolipids and developing processes to produce additional biosurfactants in collaboration with external market facing partners.The company believe collaboration between companies, disciplines and individuals are the best ways to develop the biosurfactant industry and our company, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to broaden their skill set by working with field leaders around the world, within a dynamic and friendly working environment. Our client offer a competitive pay package and benefits to attract incredible individuals to join othe team based in Manchester, UK.The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for helping maintain the day to day function of the companys laboratory in Manchester. This will include, but it is not limited to, running lab scale fermentations, performing downstream processing and quality control analytics. The role will involve working with the process development and production teams and supply chain to acquire and test raw materials to ensure that the whole process provides products with suitable properties for a range of applications and industries.Previous Knowledge and Experience Essential: Experience of running daily laboratory operationsExperience preparing fermentation media and other chemical solutionsAble to prepare bioreactors for fermentation experimentsExperience in autoclave operationExperience in preparing and maintaining microbial cell banksSignificant experience of working with microorganisms, aseptic technique and inoculum preparationProactive in ensuring work is completed accurately and efficientlyDesirable:Handyperson skillsExperience preparing samples and operating several advanced analytical techniques, ideally including HPLC, MS, GC, FTIR and/or experience in QC analytical techniques, such as titrations, and solvent extractionsExperience of downstream separation processes and/or experience operating fermentation processesExperience of running fermentationsPrevious experience implementing internal and external QC processesUK driving licenceImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
