Job Description

The Data Communications Company (DCC) is a wholly owned subsidy of Capita. DCC operates under theSmart Meter Communication Licencewhich was granted by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and is regulated by Ofgem. The licenceallows DCC to establish and manage the smart metering data and communications infrastructure. DCC is responsible for the delivery of the shared infrastructure needed for energy suppliers to roll out 53 million electricity and gas smart meters across the UK. DCC is responsible for managing the smart metering service on behalf of its users and contractswith, and manages, the data and communications service providers. Reporting to the Senior Business Resilience Manager, the BCDR (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery) Specialist will work collaboratively across DCC to implement the BCDR Capability Strategy and Roadmap. We have an exciting opportunity for a BCDR Specialistto support the BCDR programs, responsible for assisting in successfully maintaining this program in line with DCC BCDR organisational standards. The BCDR Specialist will ensure that BC Programs of the DCC Business Functions are in line with the DCC BCDR program. The candidate is responsible for assisting the Head of BCDR and Team with coordinating the development, maintenance and testing of plans withthe Functional BC Planners in accordance with DCC BCDR standards. The BCDR Specialist serves as a resource to the DCC BCDR Capability on matters of business continuity, risk preventive measures and all other BCDR related issues. They will work closely withthe Functional Departmental Heads and the BC Planner in several aspects including identifying BCDR strategies, interim solutions, and testing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting and supporting the development and maintenance of the DCC Business Continuity Management Program in accordance with DCC BCDR policies, controls and standards Developing / Maintaining BCDR Plans by supporting the Head of BCDR and Team in the collaboration process with Functional Heads and BC Planners to ensure that plans are in place to mitigate the potential Operational, Financial. Reputational, Legal & Regulatoryimpacts to the business in the event of a disaster or BC event Develop, implement, maintain and oversee implementation of policies, procedures and associated plans for BCDR administration based on industry-standard best practices (ISO 22301, ISO 27031, BCI good Practice Guidelines Assist in the development of an assurance framework for BCDR activities Support in the monitoring and reviewing of Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) for Business Functions, IT Systems & Services Providing consultation to promote, communicate and apply the BCDR standards to their area(s) of responsibility Assisting the Team in coordinating the implementation of BC standards and guidelines with BC Planners Assisting Functional areas with BCDR risk assessments Working with BC Planners to provide timely BC awareness and training to employees to ensure they remain current with their BC roles and responsibilities Facilitating ongoing BC awareness initiatives across DCC Supporting the Crisis Management Team Coordinating BC Planners in responding to a BC event Implementation and maintaining of a BCMS application Identification of Business Functions, Systems and Dependencies: work with the appropriate BC Planners to ensure that the identification of Business Functions, Systems and Dependencies has been completed Business Impact Analysis (BIA): Work with the appropriate BC Planners to ensure that a comprehensive and accurate BIA is completed Outage Scenarios and Recovery Solutions:Work with the appropriate BC Planners to ensure that the appropriate recovery solutions have been addressed for its business functions, systems, and dependencies Testing BC Plans and Solutions: Facilitating the planning and execution of testing for their area. Assisting the BCDR Head in ensuring coordination with external service providers, vendors and internal DCC Functions when preparing and executing BC exercises Assisting the Team in ensuring that DCC controls (e.g., security, privacy) are maintained during a BC exercise. Providing reports to BCDR Head on the effectiveness of tests and any plan amendments that were made based on test results. Schedule flexibility to support weekend and after hours testing when scheduled Experience in Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery / Business Resilience preferably within a Business and Technology Risk Management environment Knowledge of industry specific concepts, processes and key risks are desired. Should be well versed in BCDR activities (Planning, Documentation, Business Impact Analysis and Testing) and demonstrated ability applying to business environment The successful candidate must possess a high level of energy with a collaborative, can do attitude combined with the strength and confidence/courage to serve as a change agent of BCDR risks and controls. A proactive, driven individual with the ability to operate effectively from the conceptual stage through to successful implementation The ability to work effectively through a matrix organization utilizing strong influencing skills coupled with business continuation/ disaster recovery expertise. This also includes a mature business approach to problem solving and conflict resolution A highly organized and disciplined individual able to improve and manage the Business Continuation Management framework across DCC effectively Possesses strong analytical skills, has a thirst for knowledge and is interested in continuous learning Excellent listening and communication skills in order to effectively interface with all levels of leadership Project Management Skills Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) with an ability to produce professional documents for presentation to executive management. Skills & Experience Essential An experienced professional who has a strong experience in Business Resilience and BCDR activities Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent BCDR work experience Skills and Experiences Desirable Knowledge of ISO 22301, ISO 27031 and BCI Good Practice Guidelines Having CBCI/AMBCI (Business Continuity Institute) Knowledge of Critical National Infrastructure and associated risks Risk Management Youll get the chance to follow your chosen career path anywhere in Capita.
