  • Participate in the work of one or more NHSBT laboratory performing a range of routine and non-routine tasks.
  • Provide support and training to less experienced staff in own area of work.
  • Perform a range of routine and non-routine tasks:
  • Prepare samples/donor/patient material for testing and/or storage.
  • Operate complex equipment with supervision
  • Perform automated and/or manual analytical tests.
  • Use standard laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, pH meter or dispensing equipment without supervision.
  • Prepare clean rooms for sterile operation
  • Prepare and quality control a range of reagents for use in local, national or external laboratories.
  • Transcribe computer-generated results
  • Monitor temperature of storage areas and respond to alarms. Report when out of specification
  • You must have had HEP B Vaccinations to do this role, as you will be working with Blood Products
