Specialist Nurse-Asthma service- band 6Full timeManchester royal infirmary provides a comprehensive secondary care service treating asthma of all severities. As a busy city centre teaching hospital our catchment area and patient groups include the diverse local community of Central Manchester, University Students which amount to one of the largest campuses in Europe and many commuters to Manchester.An excellent opportunity has arisen within Respiratory Medicine based at Manchester Royal Infirmary for a dynamic Specialist Asthma Nurse. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous practitioner with a proven track record in caring for patients with respiratory disease, with a special interest in asthma. The service provides specialist input into our acute wards, outpatients and assessment of patients needing referral to our severe asthma service/complex breathlessness at the Wythenshawe site. We have a specialist MDT obstetric asthma clinic that runs monthly, providing a timeless and streamlined service at the Oxford Road Campus (ORC).As a Specialist Asthma Nurse with experience in Respiratory Medicine, you will provide expert professional assessment, advice and health promotion in the management of care for patients with asthma, with the support of the Lead Asthma Nurse Specialist and the wider teams. You will be expected to work collaboratively with patients, relatives and other health care professionals to deliver a high-quality specialist service promoting health, preventing deterioration and hospital admission or assisting in timely safe discharge for in patients. Contributing to audit and quality improvement will be a key feature of the roleYou must possess excellent interpersonal- skills, demonstrate experience in patient assessment and education, possessing drive and initiative to motivate others in providing an optimum service to this group of patients. Your expertise will be demonstrated in the delivery of education to staff around the Trust within this field.
