Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity to join a Chambers and Legal 500 ranked Professional Discipline and Regulatory team, with entrepreneurial character and ambitious growth plans.About the roleThe work is fast paced, and you will act across a broad landscape of matters for both regulators and regulated individuals, in sectors such as healthcare, social care and education. You will also advise corporates on regulator matters (often multi-jurisdictional) as well as working with the regulators themselves.Main responsibilities of the job:* To provide advice in the areas of CQC (and other regulators of health and social care) and Ofsted (and other regulators in education), including in relation to registration requirements, safeguarding concerns, challenges to inspection findings, defending claims brought by the regulator (civil and criminal), investigations and inquest proceedings.* To run a busy caseload and work closely with all members of the team in the investigation and preparation of cases. Including cases which are high profile, complex and involve vulnerable witnesses.* To assist MDU members and private clients defending cases before their regulatory body, Trust investigations, inquest proceedings and criminal cases.* To work with the team to provide regulatory advice in the developing area of internet based healthcare including cross boarder regulation.* Supervising junior members of the team on a day-to-day basis.* Drafting documentation to a high level to include correspondence, client advices, reports analysing evidence, Instructions to Counsel/experts, witness statements (including complex and lengthy witness statements) and allegations.* Evaluating information received during an investigation and advising on the appropriate course of action.* Ensuring that all work handled in accordance with agreed guidelines, time frames and service standards.* Meeting performance targets and providing a quality service to the client.* Client secondment opportunitiesAbout youYou will have experience dealing with professional disciplinary cases and be looking to be part of a dynamic, growing team. It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the CQC and Ofsted regulatory schemes (and similar regulators) and experience working with clients in the healthcare, social care and education sector, however a commitment to learning in this area would also be considered.You will be well-organised and proactive, and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
