Job Description

I am looking for an Associate Bridge Engineer to take on the role of building their own team with the backing on a UK wide consultancy in Manchester. This consultancy already has Bridge teams across the South of England and now has its sights set on buildingthis into the North and Scotland alongside an already established Highways Engineering team in Manchester and Edinburgh.You will be expected to create client relationships, wining work across the North West, building and leading your own Bridge Structures team and delivering the work that you have won. You will receive all the support you need to succeed from the OperationsDirector in the North and given the resources required from a large consultancy.Successful candidates ideally will be able to show team leadership, project delivery and management skills, technical expertise on Highways Bridge projects and you will have the drive to undertake this challenge. For the role you must be Chartered with the ICE or IstructE and have extensive experience.Associate Director Responsibilities in this role:

  • Lead and mentor bridge staff on tasks such as structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender designs, detailed designs and the production of contract documents and technical reports.
  • Use your knowledge and skills in working together with the team and other disciplines in providing an integrated service to clients
  • Help seek innovative solutions in achieving best value in delivering our services
  • Help development of the team through the delivery of projects and commissions, providing technical and administrative support and leadership where required
  • Build and grow a Team of Bridge Engineers sustainably in Manchester and Edinburgh.
  • Provide training and mentoring to your team.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering;
  • Chartered status with ICE, IStructE or a similar organisation
  • Significant experience in the UK bridges/Transportation sector;
  • Excellent understanding of structural behaviour and detailed knowledge of current codes and standards, including Eurocodes, DMRB, SHW, and Network rail standards;
  • Experience of design analysis and assessment of structures using Structural analysis software such Midas or LUSAS;
  • Proven track record of delivery of bridge and highway related projects and an ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team;
