Job Description

The opportunityProject: Seconded project management services to support the delivery of the free school capital programme.At Mace, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about cost and commercial management.Our Manchester office is looking to recruit an assistant cost consultant who has education sector experience and can help deliver on several existing and future commissions in the region.This is a cost role specifically for the education sector. It will be a role that supports various schemes covering education and higher education projects throughout the northern region.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with feasibility studies, procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
  • Assisting with estimating and cost planning activities.
  • Providing support with final accounts.
  • Support handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
  • Acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
  • Acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
    • About youYou have a degree in quantity surveying or cost management and a professional member of RICS would be beneficial. You have cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience. You know about value engineering and life cycle costing and contract administration. You have an understanding of the issues in sustainability, social value, carbon reduction impacting the public sector.You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and provide support to strong, motivated teams. You are expert in Capex v Opex cost analysis/advice.
