Job Description

2nd Line Support EngineerMy client, who is an SME, based in Manchester, are looking for a 2nd Line Support Engineer who has at least 3 years of experience doing 2nd Line work in a similar environment to join their IT team.Necessary Qualifications/Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in 1st / 2nd Line support, preferably in an SME setting, including the following:
  • On-Prem/Hybrid/Remote User Support.
  • Experience in Helpdesk Support.
  • Active Directory.
  • SharePoint.
  • VoIP.
  • Basic Hardware Support proficiency.
  • Microsoft 365 Administration experience.
  • Vendor management expertise.
  • GCSE IT or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
  • Familiarity with Veeam products.
  • Knowledge of VMWare products.
  • Experience in ERP system administration.
  • Expertise in Mobile Device Management.
  • Participation in Project Work.
  • Microsoft Certification.
  • ITIL experience or qualification.
The role:
  • Take responsibility for the oversight, maintenance, and reporting of support tickets within the assistance desk, evaluating the efficiency of IT support for the organisation.
  • Standardise IT systems, policies, procedures, configuration, and documentation.
  • Monitor and report on critical security aspects, advancing security enhancements according to the IT strategy and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and partners on IT maintenance and change initiatives, fostering productive relationships and insisting on high-quality service.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on supplier performance to enhance service quality.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for user assistance, delivering prioritised solutions.
  • Identify prospects to enhance efficiency, security, and resilience in the IT infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development of IT solutions, offering user training on IT technology to boost efficiency.
  • Execute agreed-upon IT maintenance activities and aid in resolving Service Desk tickets, delivering outstanding service to colleagues.
