Job Description

Multimodal Import Manager - Freight Forwarding - Manchester Airport - Up to £45,000.About the CompanyOur client is a multimodal freight forwarder who are looking to recruit a multimodal import manager. As a multimodal import manager you will be directly involved with all imported goods received into the country of destination. The principle function of themultimodal import manager is to arrange and manage the transportation cycle by air and ocean and to ensure all necessary paperwork is complete and legally acceptable to Customs to allow clearance and entry into the country of destination.Multimodal Import Manager - The Rewards

  • Salary up to £45,000

Multimodal Import Manager - Requirements
  • Previous experience working for a freight forwarder is essential
  • Experience working within ocean import
  • A sound understanding of ocean import and all related processes and documentation
  • Experience managing a team in either a supervisory or manager capacity would be advantageous
  • Consideration will be given for people with no management experience but who are keen to progress and have a sound operations background
Multimodal Import Manager - Responsibilities
  • Liaise with origin offices, managing new bookings, receive pre-alerts
  • To request information from customers for the preparation & submission to the Customs system and for delivery to the customer avoiding unnecessary delays
  • Create jobs in the operating systems
  • Submit customs clearances using ICE
  • To process shipping line invoices for payment prior to delivery
  • To ensure original documents are posted accordingly for release
  • To update and maintain customer schedules
  • To cost and invoice files
  • To maintain and pass KPI service standards
  • Obtain charges and cargo release details from agents, airlines and shipping
  • Responsible for ensuring any payments due are made in advance of any shipment as
  • You will process all payments and raise necessary paperwork for accounting purposes in line with company requirements.
  • Arrange the release and transportation of goods received to cargo
  • You will be expected to negotiate terms and rates, so it is important that you have previous experience in this area and are numerate.
  • You must also be familiar with industry standard computer programs and be able to operate standard systems pertinent to the job.
  • To communicate and update customers on a regular basis on the status of their shipments
  • Optimize routes and identify carriers offering better / alternative routes
  • Ensure shipment customs duty is collected as per Company policy and escalate any issues as necessary with immediate effect
  • You may be required to travel (globally) as and when require
