Summary Cliveden is one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in the UK to work in and we are now seeking an Assistant Gardener to join our friendly and tight-knit gardening team.The successful candidate will have a passion for horticulture,love working outdoors and want to develop a career in gardening. As an Assistant Gardener you will have the opportunity to learn,develop and build upon your existing skills andto work in allareas of the Cliveden gardens, from the renowned Long Garden and Parterre to the Rose Garden and Forecourt Borders.We plan to hold interviews for the position on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th May 2022.Accommodation is available to rent on the estate at market rates.If you would like to discuss the position further in the interim please contact Alex Walker, Senior Gardener on .uk. What its like to work here Clivedens Italianate mansion, riverside setting and family-friendly events draw visitors all year round, making this property a busy location with a wide range of opportunities. There is always plenty to do at the 375-acre estate, with the refurbishmentof the Conservatory Caf among recent projects. Clivedens team is close-knit with a wonderful sense of community. The location is quiet, so youll need your own transport to get here.There are a series of impressive formal gardens on the estate with far-reaching views, an abundance of bedding change throughout the seasons and an intimate Rose Garden for those wanting a little bit of peace and tranquility.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing As an Assistant Gardener youllhelpensure that the gardens are maintained to a high standard and be passionate and enthused by plants. The role will include a range of practical horticultural tasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden and contributeto the delivery of projects. Youll be helping with general maintenance of the garden, including tasks such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. Youll support with the planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs andherbaceous plants. Youll alsohelp to cut our formal and informal hedges and mow the lawns on the estate.Youll also assist our garden volunteers and support and help them to make the most of their time here. As part of this role youll be required to work regular weekends during the Spring-Summer periodas part of a garden-team rota.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous practical gardening/horticulture experience, as well as some knowledge of plants and horticultural techniques
  • Familiarity with machinery/equipment and accompanying practical certificates
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance requirements
  • Excellent customer service
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to share the history of the garden with visitors, bringing it to life
  • Commitment for what you are doing, always remaining proud of your work
  • Youll have an NVQ 1-2 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent).
