Job Description

An Applications Engineer is required for a hugely successful OEM of capital equipment here in the UK.With a reputation for exceptional quality and reliability, their machine tools are globally recognized. They have a strong network of engineers across the UK, along with 2 additional technical support staff who are office based. They have a head office herein the UK where they provide customer applications support, machine demos and training.Theres a huge amount of training on offer with this role, to learn either milling or turning if you feel you need it, plus theres extensive training on the control language for the right person.Benefits include an excellent base salary of £35K - £40K DOE, Overtime after 37hrs paid at Time & , company vehicle, great pension, private medical cover, 33 days holiday, extensive ongoing training, and career progression with yearly salary reviews.Responsibilities for the role include -

  • Provide a high standard of technical support to customers in terms of machine demonstrations
  • Creating requirements & component cycle time calculation.
  • Providing a high level of support to our customers in terms of formal training courses, hands-on training, and after-sales customer support including telephone support.
  • Prepare and prove machining methods and programs designed to provide solutions to customers manufacturing problems.
  • Working on a range of multi axis lathes and mills based at head office
  • Occasional travel to customer sites for demos and training, with possible trips to Scandinavia and Ireland too
Youll be working within an already established team of applications engineers, collaborating and working towards the same goal, so being able to work effectively with colleagues, as well as representing the brand on site with customers is absolutely essential.If youre working on the shop floor as a CNC Programmer but looking to go into applications, this would be a fantastic step up the ladder in your career!To be successful as an applications engineer were looking for the following skills and experience - - Previously an Applications Engineer, CNC Programmer, or CNC Manufacturing Engineer- Ability to programme CNC Mills OR Lathes, writing programmes longhand to machine complex parts- Be able to demonstrate cutting method techniques, tooling suggestions, and a high level of exposure to machining a variety of materials - Willingness to travel nationally, and be prepared to stay overnight if required- Clean driving licenseASC Connections Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
