Technical / R&D DirectorLocation: Macclesfield, Cheshire.Salary: Competitive, Six figure package.Contract: Full time, permanent.The CompanyRoBAT Ltd has a multi-disciplined team of 40 people designing and manufacturing, high value robotic machines for testing large printed circuit boards in our Macclesfield, Cheshire headquarters. These complex products employ electronic hardware, software, computing hardware, motion control, machine vision and precision mechanics. Most of our sales are in China and the USA where we have our own small factories and staff employed to provide local support for the machines. We have established ourselves as the market leader in our niche market.Our products are used by some of the largest companies in the world (Cisco Systems, Nokia, Ericsson, Oracle, Huawei, Foxconn).The RoleWe are now seeking a creative, high energy individual to join us as Technical Director/R&D Director. You will have complete responsibility for new product development and lead the multi-disciplined development team whilst also contributing to business development.What we need from you• You will be a senior "hands-on" engineer or scientist with an honours degree in physics or engineering plus a strong executive presence and highly effective communication skills.• A broad knowledge and interest in the fundamentals underpinning robotics and automation including machine vision and precision motion control.• Experience in the development of electro-mechanical products.• An understanding of electronic hardware and software design at a system level in a real time environment.• A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach with a strong work ethic and perseverance.• An ability to articulate a vision, to translate complexity into easy-to-understand terms and to keep others informed of your progress against commitments.• You will need to have the intellectual curiosity and mental energy to keep pace with the constant stream of technical developments in relevant fields.• Occasional world-wide travel will be necessary.We are looking for a blend of personal technical excellence, multi-disciplined engineering leadership talent and well-developed people skills.If you feel this is for you then please apply today and submit your C.V. with a covering letter detailing why you are a good fit for this role along with your salary expectations.Key words: Automation, Robotics, Test, Research & Development Required skills
