We work across the entire value chain, designing and delivering active ingredients, formulations, and devices required to support new medicines – from supplies for use in early toxicology studies and clinical trials to developing the technology to ensure drugs can be scaled up for commercial manufacture.New Modalities and Parenteral Development is a key area for AstraZeneca, covering projects that are not standard small molecules. New Modalities include (but are not limited to) Peptides, Oligonucleotides, Antibody Drug Conjugates, Dendrimer Drug Conjugates, Polymer Drug Conjugates, and Vaccine Adjuvants. This is an emerging field and is encouraged to develop and grow in the near and long-term future.We have an open position for a Senior Scientist in Packaging Development, based within the New Modalities and Parenteral Development function in PT&D. This role will support the entire PT&D portfolio.We will rely on you to bring a strong packaging development perspective to our projects from Phase 1 to the transfer to Commercial Manufacture. In addition, you will support the delivery of our packaging strategy in a diverse, multi-skilled department. Working as a technical lead in our Packaging Development team, you will also work with our packing partners in Commercial Operations. Key responsibilities include: Lead packaging support to pharmaceutical development projects, applying specialist knowledge and expertise to achieve project targets in a timely fashion and to agreed quality standardsContribute to the Packaging Strategy in the areas of Sustainability, Design Methodology, Smart Packaging, and StandardisationLeading cross-functional packaging coordination networksEmploy your understanding of packaging regulationsAssess and report data with a clear understanding of its reliability; interpret finding and draw authoritative conclusions and recommendations so that their significance can be appreciatedEnsure that work is performed in accordance with appropriate safety (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. GMPGenerate and review regulatory submission documents, plans, protocols, and reports ensuring that the project objectives are metTo work with colleagues across AstraZeneca and partner organisations to ensure suitable scientific input and influence decision makingContribute to the training and development of packaging colleagues by acting as coach/mentor as appropriate Essential requirements:
