Are you looking for a new role in bioscientific researchAre you looking for a rewarding job that contributes to the research of discovery, prevention and cures for illnessesMy client is a leading research company based in Manchester and they are looking for someone on a permanent basis to join them as a scientific officer. The main job purpose is to conduct in vivo research in the Preclinical Pharmacology team.The working hours are Monday- Friday. 37 hours a week.The salary is £20,404 -£25,000 per annum dependant on experience.What does it involve -Prepare patient samples (usually blood or tumour tissue) for in vivo use.-Perform in vivo work; including implanting cells for xenograft studies or patient tumourtissue for PDX studies, drug administration, tumour monitoring (this may involve occasionalweekend work), conducting surgical procedures and performing clinical observations.-Use the automated data collection and study conduct software package to accurately recordthe details for all in vivo studies.-Perform ex vivo processing and analysis of xenograft tumour samples and circulatingbiomarkers.-If required, conduct in vitro experiments (for example cell culture, drug treatment, westernblotting) initially under close supervision with increasing independence as competence isdemonstrated.Who are they looking for -BSc (or equivalent) in biology related discipline or equivalent relevant experience-Current or previous holder of a Home Office Personal licence holder (PIL A and B) or equivalent under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986-Relevant experience working with rodent in vivo models, preferably mice-Some experience in cancer research and/or pharmacology-Some experience of knowledge of the principles of good laboratory practice (GLP)-Previous experience of surgical procedures.-Use of Studylog software or other automated data collection software designed for in vivo applicationsThe deadline for applications is Monday 1st November, if you are suitable this will be followed by a Microsoft Teams call with myself to go through the role in more detail and your experience, before putting you forward to the client before Monday 8th November.Interviews with my client are scheduled to take place on Monday 22nd November.
