Biobank TechnicianContract until July 2022, £21,000 annual salary plus benefitsThe CompanyMy client is a successful global company that provides a variety of on-site Laboratory Services to major pharmaceutical companies. They now have an 8 month contract position at a respected life sciences customer for a lab technician to join their human biobankin the storage of clinical samples.This is a good opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of working within a scientific environment focused on cell handling/banking. This is a sample handling orientated role with very little bench work.The OpportunityThis job is based within the Human Biobank which stores biological tissue samples from clinical studies, material sought from external suppliers (commercial, healthcare organisations, academic etc) and/or collaborators.This role is primarily lab-based focusing on the receipt, storage, dispatch and tracking of human biological samples to support research studies globally. The biobank works in accordance with health and safety and GxP requirements. This opportunity wouldideally suit a flexible, good team worker seeking a science-based role.As part of a seven-person team of biobank technicians you will be the first point of contact for human tissue samples arriving at the site. Following SOPs you will take receipt of samples in a designated reception area, input sample information into thetracking system, and assist with the transfer of samples to freezer/ tissue bank locations or to responsible scientists on site and to collaborators off-site.This role is primarily facility-based focusing on the receipt, labelling and storage of human biological samples to support research studies globally. The Biobanks work in accordance with SHE, GXP & GLS requirements. This opportunity would ideally suit anindividual who seeks a science-based role and is on a temporary 8 month contract.Full training in SOPs and processes will be provided.Working to Good Clinical Practice, Job duties include tracking and recording samples within the biobank, liaising with dispatch, transferring samples and general lab housekeeping.About YouThe ideal experience my client is looking for is experience of working in a laboratory environment to health and safety procedures on top of two A Levels or equivalent in science. A degree is not necessary but we will consider degree qualified candidates.To succeed in this job you should demonstrate:
